Client: A Defense laboratory
Requirement
A large and complex Military Class Real-time
control system with multiple interfaces
- RS422, MIL1553B, Ethernet, Custom Digital
and Analog Input and outputs was to be tested.
The Control System being being expensive
in nature, sufficient number of the hardware
units were not available at all times.
Our Solution
MicroGenesis proposed a two phase solution
that included developing of a host based test
framework apart from the actual target hardware.
IBM's RTRT was chosen to be used for test
automation.
MicroGenesis developed the Test Bed, Two Custom
Target Deployment Ports for the Real Time
Operating System (target hardware and Host
based test harness), Simulation Library and
Test scripts for the testing the system.
The Project was executed in a phased iterative
manner. The Test Bed and libraries were initially
built for core subsystems and integrated and
subsequently the other libraries for other
subsystems were added. Results
1. A Robust reusable test framework
was developed
2. Automated testing used in a effective manner
for the first time in that lab
3. Faster and more efficient testing cycle
Critical Success factors
1.Quick understanding of the complex
requirements
2.Skilled team to develop reusable framework
